Boy Scout High Adventures

Boy Scout Wilderness Canoe Country High Adventure

We know Boy Scouts

At Williams and Hall, we know scouts like no other outfitter in Ely, Minnesota. We have served hundreds of Scout Troops like yours. Our owners, Blayne and Kevin, have held just about every possible adult leader position there is, including Scoutmaster. Blayne is an Eagle Scout, as are his three sons, and Kevin’s son. Because of our own scouting experience, we understand your needs and challenges as a scout leader. As an adult leader, you will appreciate the knowledge we bring to your trip planning and execution.

Why this is the Perfect High Adventure Destination

Boy Scouts have been venturing the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and Quetico wildernesses for nearly a century. Where else can the Scout Motto, Be Prepared, be put to the test in such an incredible fashion? The Canoe Country is what Scouting is all about.

It is where planning and preparation is rewarded with backcountry comfort and adventure. Youth have a rare opportunity to experience camping and outdoor life just as it was experienced by the early native Americans and the Voyageurs. The outdoor skills that the youth learn can all be put to the test here. Here it is real and not just a hypothetical book exercise.

Meeting Your Troop’s Specific Needs

At Williams and Hall, we recognize that group canoe trips have special needs, circumstances and limitations, including tight budgets. Not every group is the same. With this in mind, we will visit with you personally about your specific needs and expectations. You won't have to worry about pre-set restrictions and limitations. Our main objective is to see that your groups' needs and expectations are met, in both service and economic considerations.

We can handle troop sizes from 2 to 100. Regardless of whether you have a small or large group, we have the lodging, gear and transportation capabilities to meet your troop’s need. We make sure you have the right BWCA permits for a successful trip.

Finally, our main goal is that everyone that uses us has a safe experience. We are all about safety, and will emphasize to the boys “good wilderness judgment.” At the same time let’s not forget that this is supposed to be fun. We keep things light while at the same time emphasizing the serious aspects of wilderness travel. We provide professional care and advice to your group every step of the way.
